Sheepcot Medical Centre's Carer Champion: Leesa
Meet our Carer Champion
Leesa serves as the Carer Champion at Sheepcot Medical Centre, dedicated to supporting carers and easing the challenges of looking after loved ones. Whether in person or over the phone, Leesa introduces herself and explains her role in helping carers access the support they need.
Her efforts include directing carers to resources such as social prescribing services or specialised organisations that can provide professional assistance. She also sends out a comprehensive Carers Pack, filled with useful information and a registration form for carers to complete.
Leesa actively participates in monthly meetings during her working days, connecting with other Carer Champions from different surgeries in the Hertfordshire area. These meetings, supported by Jane Brown from Carers in Herts, ensure she stays informed about the latest updates, services, and resources available for carers.
Feedback from patients is something Leesa values deeply, as she strives to create a welcoming environment where carers feel supported and encouraged to reach out for help whenever she’s in the surgery. Her role is both rewarding and impactful, making a meaningful difference for the carers in our community.
