Doctors

Dr Alan Jackson

Trained at Kings College Hospital (KCH) Doctor Jackson worked with consultants at KCH with an interest in respiratory medicine and continued with this interest into his GP training at Luton & Dunstable Hospital before joining SMC in 1983. Primary care has been his interest since then and Sheepcot Medical Centre was extended while at 80 Sheepcot Lane and then after many years of searching a new purpose built surgery was built for SMC in 2015. This new surgery has enabled SMC to develop as a training centre for medical students, doctors and nurses and Dr Jackson hopes that our trainees will be encouraged to move into general practice encouraged by their experience at SMC. He is extremely proud of the new premises and the excellent staff that have helped in achieving what he feels is a showpiece NHS practice. Team spirit is so important and is being developed all the time. In his spare time he is a keen squash player having played against most of the Hertfordshire club teams over the years. More recently he has started to play more golf but time is an ongoing problem. Although he works and plays very hard he is very close to all of his family and enjoys travelling especially to the South Of France.

Reception

Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits.
